residential home in the 300 block of north menard avune. >>a woman and her two young children who were reported missing last week were found safe in wisconsin dells. living in their car. aneta marsek and her daughters ages two and four months were reported missing by her estranged husband. marsek had not used her credit cards or cell phone, and their absence triggered air and water searches. more than a hundred people including marsek's husband, held a vigil for them saturday. on sunday, marsek contacted wisconsin dells police. she said she needed to "get away" and went to the dells because it reminded her of childhood memories. the girls have been released into the custody of their father. aneta marsek is at a mental health facility in wisconsin. a chicago patient who's been diagnosed with meningitis is undergoing tests to confirm if the illness is linked to contaminated steroid injections. the centers for disease control and prevention says an outbreak of fungal meningitis traced to

contaminated steroid shots has sickened more than 200 people in 14 states. 15 people have died. illinois department of health director lamar hasbrouck told the wgn morning news that 364 people in illinois have received the same medication. the tainted steroid has been recalled. federal health officials say about 14 thousand people who received the pain-relieving injections may be at risk for meningitis. the owners of the chicago bears hosted a religious summit at the team's practice facility in lake forest yesterday. part of the summit discussed the federal government's mandate that some religious institutions offer health insurance policies that cover contraceptives. patrick mccaskey and his mother, virginia. who is the bears' principal owner are strongly opposed to the mandate.

however, they say that's a personal opinion and that it would be inappropriate for the team to take an official stand on the mandate. >>wisconsin's first organized wolf hunt begins today and continues through february. it follow months of debate. as animal advocates argued the state's wolf population was too fragile to sustain a hunt. state wildlife officials estimate there are about 800 wolves roaming wisconsin. they've limited the total number that can be killed to 116. a provision of the law establishing the hunt that would allow hunters to use dogs has been temporarily blocked by a judge. >>teachers in highland park could walk off the job tommorrow. the teachers union for north shore school district 1-12 is threatening to strike if a deal is not reached by tonight. the district serves students in highland park and highwood. negotiators will meet today to work on a contract. teachers plan a rally at 3 o'clock this afternoon outside school board headquarters. students in evergreen park are back in school today. teachers and the school board

reached a tentative agreement friday. ending the 10-day strike. neither side would discuss specific details of the agreement. which still needs to be ratified by teachers and staff members. the superinendent of evergreen park schools is optimistic it will be approved. the walkout affected about 18- hundred students. >>pastor corey brooks is back home in chicago, after a cross- country walk to raise money for a new community center. for the past four months pastor brooks of new beginnings church walked from new york to los angeles to raise awareness about the violence on the streets of chicago. he also hoped to raise 15- million dollars during the three-thousand mile trek. so far, he's recieved about a half-million dollars. >>coming up next the people of pakistan rally around a little girl targeted by the taliban, we'll have an update on her condition.

specter served five terms in pennsylvania most of it as a moderate republican. he switched to the democratic party in 2009. before his senate tenure specter served as asssistant counsel for the warren commission, as it investigated the assassination of president kennedy. >>arlen specter battled cancer since the 1990's. he was 82. >>president obama and his republican challenger, mitt romney, will face off tomorrow night in their second presidential debate. the debate's being held at hofstra university in hempstead, new york and the moderator will be c-n-n's candy crowley. it's a town hall format this time. obama and romney will field questions from more than a dozen undecided voters. the format is designed to produce interaction with the voters rather than heated exchanges between the candidates.

>>the father of the u-s ambassador killed in an attack in libya says his son's death should not be politicized in the presidential campaign. mitt romney has criticized president obama for not providing adequate security in libya. the obama campaign said romney's "shoot-from-the-hip" diplomacy shows his lack of experience in foreign affairs. stevens' father says politicians should wait for the findings of a formal investigation before making accusations or judgments. >>the people of pakistan are rallying around a little girl, targeted by the taliban. last week, 14 year old activist,malala yousafzai was shot in the head, aboard a school van. she was targeted for writing a blog that described, in brutal detail, life under the taliban's rule. this weekend, thousands of people took to the streets in karachi, at a rally to support malala (mah-lah'-lah). three men have been arrested in connection with the attempt on her life.

malala (mah-lah'-lah) has been sent to the u-k for treatment. she remains unconscious, but doctors say she is making progress. the taliban has vowed to kill her, if she survives. >>a court hearing is underway in italy for the captain of the costa concordia. the cruise ship that wrecked off the coast of italy, killing 32 passengers. francesco is accused of steering the ship too close to shore. he says he was distracted.. when the ship rammed into a reef last january.a lawyer for the families of the 32 people killed says no one should have died in the incident and that the captain is not solely to blame but also the company that runs the cruise line.,who faces multiple charges of manslaughter and abandoning ship, did not speak during the hearing. he went up. way up. more than 24 miles into space then went hurling towards the earth at speeds of more than 700 miles per hour. australian daredevil felix baumgartner set the record for world's highest skydive this weekend. he became the first person ever to break the sound barrier outside a vehicle and under his own power. baumgartner's free fall lasted for 4 minutes and 19 seconds. it was just 17 seconds short of breaking the record for the longest free-fall in history. he pulled his parachute chord and landed safely in new mexico. it was spinning so violent. i was trying to figure out how to

the bears had a bye this week, but they got to watch their division rivals play some tough games on the road. packers visited the texans on sunday night football. green bay offense came back to life, as aaron rodgers goes deep to jordy nelson for the first of three touchdown passes. later its rodgers again this time to james jones, for his second score. rodgers throws over 300 yards and six touchdowns. packers win 42 to 24. vikings and redskins in washington. vikings were down early in this one, but they came back late in the 4-th. christian ponder finds kyle

a new study finds school children who sleep more cope better with everyday challenges. researchers studied a group of elementary school students to find out if their behavior was affected by how much sleep they got. for one week, half the kids went to bed earlier then usual. the other half stayed up later. the students who got less sleep seemed overly tired.. more impulsive and irritable.. and quick to cry, lose their tempers, or get frustrated. those who got plenty of sleep had a better handle on their emotions and were more alert in class. scientists say it's not all about eating too much and not moving enough. your brain could also be making you fat. university of michigan researchers say some brains are wired differently and don't respond to a hormone that regulates appetite. that hormone is leptin. it plays a key role in regulating body weight by signaling the brain to reduce appetite and burn more calories. the researchers say they think they now know why the brain receptor responsible for processing leptin may not work for some people. lunchbreak is next. we are making bread pudding with a key fall ingredient.
